OPay has opened applications for its scholarship programme under a ₦1.2 billion, 10-year education commitment, alongside a ₦10 million Innovation Challenge with Google aimed at supporting Nigerian students through funding, mentorship, and tech-driven problem-solving opportunities.
OPay has opened applications for the latest edition of its scholarship programme as part of its long-term ₦1.2 billion, 10-year commitment to supporting education and youth development in Nigeria.
The initiative, which targets students in tertiary institutions, is designed to provide financial assistance to academically outstanding but financially challenged students across partner schools nationwide.
Alongside the scholarship scheme, the company has also launched a ₦10 million Innovation Challenge in collaboration with Google, aimed at encouraging students to develop technology-driven solutions to real-life problems.
According to the programme structure, participating students will work in teams to design and present innovative ideas, with selected winners set to receive cash prizes and further development opportunities.
OPay says the expanded programme is not limited to financial support alone, but also includes training, mentorship, and exposure to digital tools to help students build relevant skills for the modern workplace.
The application window for the Innovation Challenge is expected to run for several weeks, with shortlisted participants moving on to a competitive selection and pitching phase.
Overall, the initiative is part of OPay’s broader effort to invest in education, innovation, and youth empowerment across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
