Ooni of Ife Mourns Elder Brother, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has announced the death of his immediate elder brother, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi, describing him as an accomplished entrepreneur whose life was defined by humility, compassion and dedicated service to humanity.

The monarch paid tribute to his late brother in a statement issued on Sunday by the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, Sodiq Lawal.

According to the statement, the passing of Prince Adetunji has left a profound void within the Ogunwusi family, the Ojaja Royal Dynasty and the entire Ile-Ife Kingdom.

Prince Adetunji, who was born on December 8, 1967, belonged to the Ojaja lineage of the Giesi Ruling House in Ile-Ife. He served as the Group Chairman of Primewaterview Holdings and was widely recognised for his contributions to business and community development.

The Ooni noted that his elder brother built a distinguished reputation through excellence, innovation and visionary leadership in the business world while maintaining an unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes.

The monarch described the deceased as more than a family member, saying he was a trusted confidant, dependable pillar and source of strength to the royal household.

“Today, the entire royal family mourns not only a brother and son but also a trusted confidant, a dependable pillar of our family and a man whose life reflected honour, dignity and uncommon compassion,” the Ooni said.

He added that Prince Adetunji’s entrepreneurial spirit, devotion to family values and genuine concern for others would continue to inspire generations.

According to the monarch, the late prince quietly impacted countless lives through generosity, wise counsel and selfless acts of service, consistently upholding the cherished values of the Ojaja Royal Family.

The Ooni extended condolences to members of the Ogunwusi family, residents of Ile-Ife and all those affected by the loss, urging them to draw comfort from the remarkable legacy Prince Adetunji leaves behind.

He said although his brother’s earthly journey had ended, his contributions to family, enterprise and society would never be forgotten.

The monarch also offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and asked God to grant strength and comfort to his immediate family, friends, business associates and everyone whose lives he touched through his kindness, leadership and unwavering commitment to humanity.
