Ooni Donates ₦100m, Hilux to Support Igboho's Security Outfit

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has donated ₦100 million and a brand-new Toyota Hilux vehicle to the Iru Ekun Security Network, a community-based security outfit established by Yoruba Nation advocate, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho. The donation was announced during a courtesy visit by Igboho and members of the outfit to the Ooni's palace in Ile-Ife.

In a statement issued by the palace, the Ooni commended Igboho for what he described as his commitment to protecting the lives and property of Yoruba people, stressing that security remains a prerequisite for sustainable development. He said every genuine initiative aimed at preserving peace deserves support regardless of political, religious or ideological differences.

The monarch also called on traditional rulers, community leaders, business executives and other prominent Yoruba stakeholders to support the Iru Ekun Security Network. According to him, unity among Yoruba people is essential to safeguarding the region and ensuring lasting peace and development.

Responding, Igboho thanked the Ooni for the financial support and royal encouragement, describing the monarch as a father figure to Yoruba people across the world. He said the visit was also an opportunity to brief the traditional ruler on the activities of the security outfit and seek his continued guidance.

Igboho further disclosed plans to organise a regional security summit involving traditional rulers from across Yorubaland to discuss practical solutions to insecurity. He said the proposed summit, subject to the Ooni's approval, would be hosted at the Ooni's palace in Ile-Ife.
