Ooni Announces Birth of Royal Princess

Ooni of Ife welcomes a royal princess with Queen Oluwatosin, says mother and baby are healthy and well.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has announced the birth of a royal princess through his wife, Queen Oluwatosin, describing the arrival as a special blessing to the House of Oduduwa.

The announcement was made on Sunday through a statement shared on the monarch’s official social media platforms.

Expressing gratitude to God, the Ooni attributed the successful delivery to divine grace and praised the Almighty for the gift of new life.

According to the monarch, the birth of the princess is a joyful moment not only for the royal family but also for the entire House of Oduduwa.

“To God Almighty be all the glory for His unfailing grace and the precious gift of new life,” the statement read.

“Hearty congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa for the blessed arrival of a Royal Princess through Olori Oluwatosin.

“May the Almighty preserve this divine gift and cause her to flourish in wisdom, grace and honour.”

The Ooni also confirmed that both Queen Oluwatosin and the newborn princess are in excellent health.

“We are pleased to share that both Olori Oluwatosin and the Royal Princess are in excellent health,” he added.

The announcement has been greeted with congratulatory messages from traditional rulers, political leaders, cultural organisations and well-wishers, many of whom described the birth as a joyful addition to the royal household.

Supporters of the monarch also took to social media to celebrate the news, offering prayers for the child’s growth, protection and future leadership.

Oba Ogunwusi, who ascended the throne as the 51st Ooni of Ife in 2015, remains one of Nigeria’s most prominent traditional rulers and a leading advocate for Yoruba culture, heritage and national unity.

Throughout his reign, the monarch has promoted cultural preservation, youth empowerment, interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.

The Ooni’s palace has not yet announced the date for any traditional naming ceremony or other customary rites associated with the birth of the royal child.

For now, the palace says both mother and daughter are doing well, while the royal family continues to receive goodwill messages from across Nigeria and beyond in celebration of the latest addition to the House of Oduduwa.
