NSCDC Seals Steel Firms Linked to Multi-Billion Naira Rail Sabotage

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has sealed facilities belonging to Inner Galaxy Steel Company and Jiuxing Integrity Industrial Ltd over their alleged involvement in the vandalism and illegal recycling of railway infrastructure and other critical national assets.

The action followed a court order obtained by the Corps after suspects were arrested and vandalised railway materials allegedly traced to the companies’ premises in Birnin Yero, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Babawale Afolabi, disclosed this during a press briefing over the weekend.

According to Afolabi, the suspects are being investigated for conspiracy to commit felony, intentional endangering of railway passengers, obstruction and destruction of railway infrastructure, theft, concealment of stolen property, and alleged financing of terrorism.

He explained that the NSCDC secured a valid court order and search warrant authorising the sealing of the affected facilities and the confiscation of all recovered railway materials found on the premises.

The recovered railway sleepers and tracks have reportedly been handed over to the Nigerian Railway Corporation to serve as exhibits during prosecution.

Afolabi stated that the facilities would remain sealed until investigations are concluded and legal proceedings completed.

“The facility will remain sealed pending the conclusion of investigations,” he said.

The NSCDC spokesperson further disclosed that the court order also authorised the sealing of facilities linked to the companies in Abia State and Zamfara State, including any other branches connected to the ongoing investigation.

The Corps said the operation formed part of broader efforts to protect critical national infrastructure from vandalism, sabotage, and illegal commercial activities capable of undermining public safety and economic stability.

The agency reiterated its commitment to tracking individuals and organisations involved in the destruction or illegal recycling of public infrastructure, warning that offenders would face prosecution under relevant laws.
