NNPC Deploys Over 1,000 Graduates After One-Year Internship Programme

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has deployed more than 1,000 young Nigerians to various departments and operational units following the successful completion of its one-year internship programme. The initiative forms part of the company's commitment to developing local talent and equipping graduates with practical skills for careers in the energy industry.

Speaking during the deployment ceremony, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, said the internship programme was designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice. He noted that participants had received hands-on training across different aspects of the oil and gas value chain, preparing them for the demands of the workplace.

Ojulari explained that the programme reflects NNPC's broader strategy of investing in human capital development while supporting the Federal Government's efforts to reduce youth unemployment. According to him, the graduates gained practical experience in engineering, finance, information technology, health and safety, legal services, operations and other specialised fields during the internship.

The GCEO encouraged the deployed graduates to demonstrate professionalism, discipline and innovation in their new roles, stressing that the experience offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria's energy sector. He also urged them to continue learning and uphold the company's values of integrity, excellence and accountability.

NNPC stated that the internship scheme has become one of its flagship talent development programmes, providing young graduates with industry exposure and enhancing their employability. The company added that it will continue expanding initiatives aimed at nurturing the next generation of professionals required to drive the transformation of Nigeria's oil and gas industry.

The deployment comes as NNPC intensifies efforts to strengthen its workforce and build technical capacity in line with ongoing reforms within the energy sector. Company officials expressed confidence that the programme will continue to produce skilled professionals capable of supporting the nation's long-term energy and economic objectives.
