NIS Assures Nigerians Passport Services Remain Uninterrupted

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has assured Nigerians that passport application and processing services remain fully operational across the country, dismissing reports suggesting that its recent system upgrade has disrupted the issuance of travel documents.

The clarification follows concerns raised over the migration of additional passport branches to the Central Personalisation Centre, a development that sparked speculation about a possible suspension of passport services. The Service, however, said the transition was part of ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and enhance service delivery without interrupting operations.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the NIS urged members of the public to disregard misleading reports, stressing that passport enrolment, processing and collection are continuing as scheduled at all designated centres nationwide. It added that applicants with existing appointments should honour them as planned.

The Service explained that the migration exercise is designed to strengthen the passport issuance system by centralising personalisation processes, improving security and reducing processing delays. It noted that measures had been put in place to ensure a seamless transition while maintaining uninterrupted services for applicants.

The NIS reaffirmed its commitment to providing efficient and transparent passport services, encouraging Nigerians to obtain information only through its official communication channels and to ignore unverified claims capable of causing unnecessary panic.
