Nigerian Man Faces Deportation After Arrest in US Over Fraud Allegations
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested Nigerian national Etinosa Osahon in Los Angeles over alleged fraud, stolen mail and identity theft offences, with deportation proceedings now underway.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested a Nigerian national, Etinosa Osahon, in Los Angeles over alleged offences linked to fraud and theft.
In a statement shared on X, ICE Los Angeles confirmed that Osahon, 49, is currently in custody pending immigration removal proceedings.
According to the agency, the Nigerian national has a criminal record involving allegations of stealing, possession of stolen mail, bank fraud and aggravated identity theft.
“ICE Los Angeles arrested Etinosa Osahon, 49, of Nigeria, May 21,” the agency stated.
“Osahon’s criminal record includes stealing and being in possession of stolen mail, bank fraud, and aggravated identity theft. He is in ICE custody pending removal.”
The arrest is the latest in a series of enforcement actions involving Nigerians accused of criminal offences in the United States.
In April, another Nigerian national, Olatunde Olusanjo, was reportedly arrested by ICE over allegations related to sexual offences.
US authorities have intensified immigration enforcement operations in recent months, particularly targeting foreign nationals with criminal convictions or pending criminal allegations.
The administration of Donald Trump has also continued to implement stricter immigration policies affecting several countries, including Nigeria.
The development comes amid broader efforts by US immigration authorities to strengthen border enforcement and deportation procedures involving undocumented immigrants and foreign nationals accused of criminal activity.
