NDLEA Seizes 380 Military-Grade Bullets in Kaduna Raids

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 380 rounds of military-grade ammunition in Kaduna State and arrested multiple suspects linked to large-scale drug trafficking and illicit substance distribution operations across the country.

The agency disclosed that the ammunition was recovered during a patrol operation along the Abuja–Kaduna Highway at Jere on May 24, where a 30-year-old suspect, Sunusi Musa, was arrested while allegedly transporting the 7.62mm rounds to Katsina State.

According to the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the suspect and the recovered ammunition have been handed over to the appropriate security agency for further investigation and prosecution.

In a related operation in Kaduna, NDLEA operatives arrested a couple, Musa Sunday and Mercy Sunday, alongside another suspect, Salomi Ezekiel, following the discovery of 100 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 1,246 kilograms at their residence in the Gonin Gora area.

Babafemi explained that the agency has intensified nationwide operations targeting drug trafficking networks and illicit substance distribution hubs.

He also confirmed that NDLEA officers intercepted concealed drug consignments in Lagos, where three kilograms of ketamine and 199 grams of MDMA (ecstasy) were hidden inside water purifier machines shipped from the Netherlands.

In Niger State, operatives acting on intelligence raided a warehouse in Gidan Kukah, Bosso Local Government Area, recovering 457 kilograms of skunk. A suspect, identified as 46-year-old Godwin Zakka, was later arrested in Minna in connection with the seizure.

Similarly, in Enugu State, NDLEA operatives intercepted a commercial vehicle along the Onitsha–Enugu Expressway transporting illicit pharmaceuticals, including 22,000 tramadol pills, 100 ampoules of pentazocine, and 200 grams of bromazepam. One suspect, James Maigari Wisdom, was arrested.

The agency said its nationwide commands continue to intensify both enforcement operations and public awareness campaigns against drug abuse in schools, worship centres, and communities.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), commended officers involved in the Kaduna, Niger, and Enugu operations, urging them to sustain the momentum in both drug supply reduction and preventive sensitisation efforts.

Marwa reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and reducing the availability of illicit substances across Nigeria.
