N36m Fraud Trial: Court Adjourns Judgment on Blessing CEO’s Bail
A Federal High Court in Lagos has reserved ruling until June 9 on the bail application of social media influencer Blessing CEO, who is facing trial over an alleged N36 million fraud.
A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has reserved ruling on the bail application filed by social media influencer and relationship therapist, Blessing CEO, in her ongoing N36 million fraud trial.
The development was disclosed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a statement released on Friday through its official communication channels.
According to the anti-graft agency, Justice D.I. Dipeolu adjourned the matter until June 9, 2026, when the court is expected to deliver its ruling on the bail request.
Blessing CEO, whose real name is Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, is being prosecuted by the EFCC’s Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and stealing.
The Commission alleged that between July 14 and July 17, 2024, the defendant obtained N36 million from Mrs Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye under the guise of securing the lease of a six-bedroom duplex located in Lekki, Lagos State.
During earlier proceedings, defence counsel informed the court that N24 million had already been refunded to the complainant and sought additional time to facilitate settlement of the outstanding balance.
However, the EFCC opposed any attempt to resolve the matter privately, insisting that the allegations constitute criminal offences and should be determined through the judicial process.
Justice Dipeolu had previously ruled that negotiations between the parties could not halt the criminal proceedings, emphasizing that the case must continue in accordance with the law. The court subsequently ordered that the defendant remain in custody pending further proceedings.
The prosecution maintains that the charges against the defendant involve serious allegations that require judicial determination, irrespective of any refund or settlement discussions between the parties involved.
With the latest adjournment, attention now shifts to June 9, when the court will decide whether Blessing CEO should be granted bail while the trial continues.
The case has attracted public attention due to the defendant’s prominence on social media, where she is widely known for relationship and lifestyle content.
