Motorists, Residents Urge Abiodun to Complete Mow-Ofada Road

Motorists, commuters and residents have appealed to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun to urgently complete the second section of the Mowe–Ofada Road, saying the unfinished stretch has become a major source of hardship for road users. They noted that while the first section has been reconstructed, the remaining portion continues to cause severe traffic delays, vehicle damage and rising transportation costs.

Speaking in separate interviews, commercial drivers and commuters said the deteriorating condition of the road worsens during the rainy season, making movement difficult and increasing vehicle maintenance expenses. They urged the state government to prioritise the completion of the project, describing the road as a critical link for residents, workers and businesses operating in the Mowe-Ofada axis.

A transporter also noted that the poor state of the road has slowed the movement of goods and services, negatively affecting economic activities in Mowe, Ofada and neighbouring communities. Meanwhile, a resident called on the government to intensify palliative repairs on the failed sections pending the completion of the reconstruction to ease the suffering of motorists and commuters.

While expressing confidence in Governor Abiodun's commitment to infrastructure development, the residents stressed that completing the entire road project would improve connectivity, enhance road safety and boost economic growth across the corridor.
