MFM Suspends Vigils, Limits Services to 8pm Nationwide
Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries has suspended vigils and directed all church activities nationwide to end by 8:00 p.m., citing growing security concerns and the need to protect worshippers.
Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has directed all its branches across the country to conclude church programmes by 8:00 p.m. and suspend vigils and overnight prayer meetings until further notice due to growing security concerns.
The directive was contained in an internal memo dated June 5, 2026, and signed by the Director of Administration at the church’s international headquarters, Temitope A. Olawale.
According to the memo, the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to protect members amid the prevailing security challenges affecting different parts of the country.
The church instructed that all services, meetings, and related activities must henceforth end no later than 8:00 p.m. It also ordered the suspension of all vigils and overnight programmes until further notice.
The directive stated that where night vigils are considered necessary, they should be converted into evening prayer programmes and concluded on or before the stipulated closing time.
“Where necessary, vigils may be converted to evening prayer programmes and must be concluded on or before 8:00 p.m.,” the memo stated.
MFM emphasized that the measures are mandatory and apply to all branches, departments, and groups within the ministry nationwide.
The church explained that the directive is purely preventive and intended to safeguard the lives and well-being of worshippers in light of the current security situation across the country.
“These measures are purely precautionary and are intended to safeguard the lives and well-being of our members in the face of the current security situation in the country,” the statement added.
The memo was circulated to Principal Regional Overseers, Senior Regional Overseers, Mega Regional Overseers, zonal pastors, and branch pastors for immediate implementation.
The development comes amid increasing concerns over insecurity in several parts of Nigeria, including incidents of kidnapping, banditry, and attacks on communities, which have prompted individuals and organisations to adopt additional safety measures.
MFM is one of Nigeria’s largest Pentecostal denominations, with branches across the country and in several countries around the world.
