Mbah Reaffirms Enugu Air's Safety Commitment After Runway Incident

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has reassured passengers and the flying public that safety remains the top priority of Enugu Air following Thursday's runway excursion involving one of the airline's aircraft at Benin Airport. The governor expressed sympathy to the 63 passengers and five crew members aboard the Embraer E170, thanking God that no lives were lost and no injuries were reported.

In a statement personally signed on Friday, Mbah said the state government was fully aware of the incident and commended the swift response by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), which has already launched an investigation. He pledged the state's full cooperation with aviation regulators to determine the cause of the runway excursion.

The governor stressed that Enugu Air was founded on a safety-first culture, insisting that operational decisions would always prioritise passenger safety above commercial interests or flight schedules. He noted that the airline's quality assurance and quality control systems are designed to maintain safety standards that exceed industry benchmarks.

Mbah further assured the public that Enugu Air would continue to operate in line with global aviation safety standards while awaiting the outcome of the ongoing investigation. He reiterated the government's commitment to maintaining the confidence of passengers by ensuring the airline upholds the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
