Marvel Officially Announces Black Panther III at Comic-Con

Marvel Studios has officially announced Black Panther III during its Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, confirming the return of director Ryan Coogler and unveiling David Jonsson as the franchise's new lead. Jonsson will portray T'Challa II, the adult son of the late King T'Challa, continuing the legacy established in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The film is scheduled for release on December 15, 2028.

Coogler told fans that the new film will explore the coming-of-age journey of T'Challa's son while expanding the story of Wakanda. Letitia Wright is set to reprise her role as Shuri, alongside Winston Duke as M'Baku, continuing the storyline introduced after the death of Chadwick Boseman's character.

Marvel's announcement marks the third installment in one of the MCU's most successful franchises. The original Black Panther (2018) became a cultural phenomenon and the first superhero film nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, while Black Panther: Wakanda Forever paid tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman following his death in 2020.

The reveal was one of several major announcements made by Marvel Studios at Comic-Con, as the company outlined its upcoming cinematic slate and sought to generate excitement for the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
