Makinde Effects Minor Cabinet Reshuffle, Swears In New Commissioner

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle, swearing in Dr Taiwo Ladipo as commissioner and urging political appointees to intensify efforts to deliver lasting results before the end of the administration’s second term.

Makinde gave the charge on Monday during the swearing-in ceremony held at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

The governor said public office remained an opportunity to serve and urged appointees to remain committed to the vision of the Omituntun 2.0 administration.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Ladipo, a former Commissioner for Health who most recently served as Permanent Secretary in charge of General Administration, has been deployed to the Ministry of Establishments and Training.

As part of the reshuffle, Prof. Solihu Adelabu was redeployed to the Ministry of Investment, Trade, Cooperatives and Industry.

Speaking at the event, Makinde said his administration would continue to appoint competent individuals who share its development agenda for Oyo State.

“My government will continue to make use of individuals who fit into its vision for the state,” the governor said.

He also clarified that changes within the cabinet should not be viewed negatively, describing the replacement of appointees as part of efforts to improve governance and achieve better results.

“Relieving an appointee of his or her appointment should be seen as restructuring for better results,” he added.

Makinde congratulated the new commissioner and urged him, alongside other political office holders and public servants, to remain loyal, dedicated and focused on effective service delivery in the remaining months of the administration.

He stressed the need for government officials to work harder to ensure the administration concludes its tenure on a strong note and leaves a lasting developmental legacy.

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal; Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin; Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo; Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi; Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni; commissioners, permanent secretaries and other senior government officials.
