Kwara State Implements Free Online Platform for Secondary Placement Exams
Kwara State has commenced free online registration for the 2026 junior secondary school placement examination, pairing the digital transition with a strict zero-tolerance warning against any school officials attempting to extort processing fees from parents.
The Kwara State Government has officially phased out manual paper-based registration systems, launching a fully automated, free digital platform to manage the 2026 Placement Examination for all eligible Primary Six pupils transitioning into public junior secondary schools. Announcing the policy shift in Ilorin, the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, stated that the migration to a centralized electronic portal is designed to eliminate institutional bottlenecks and ensure total transparency in student positioning. To prevent administrative chaos, the state ministry has designed a staggered registration timeline, opening the portal exclusively to private primary institutions on Tuesday, 9th June, before opening access to all public schools on Friday, 12th June, with the entire exercise scheduled to permanently close on 22nd June.
In an effort to shield vulnerable families from financial exploitation, the state government has issued a severe legal warning to all primary school headteachers, principals, and administrative staff against demanding any form of financial compensation from parents under the guise of portal fees or processing charges. Dr Olohungbebe emphasized that the placement exercise is entirely funded by the state, warning that any official caught extorting money from candidates will face immediate dismissal and prosecution under state anti-corruption laws. Additionally, the ministry directed all private primary school administrators to obtain formal clearance from the Quality Assurance Bureau to verify their legal operating licenses before they can be issued the secure portal login credentials required to register their students.
