Kwara PDP Governorship Candidate Denies Link to Viral Ritual Video

He described the claims as false and politically motivated, insisting he neither authorised nor supports such practices and remains committed to an issue-based campaign.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kwara State, Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu, has distanced himself from a viral video allegedly linking his 2027 governorship ambition to ritual activities, describing attempts to associate him with the incident as false, malicious and politically motivated.

The controversy followed the circulation of a video on social media in which one Alhaji Saheed Ishola, popularly known as LogunOfe, was alleged to have made comments and engaged in activities purportedly connected to ritual sacrifice in relation to the 2027 governorship election. The video surfaced amid an earlier report alleging that some PDP supporters visited a shrine in Ogun State to pray against individuals opposed to the political ambitions of former Senate President Bukola Saraki and Kawu.

In a statement issued by his media office, Kawu denied any relationship with the individual featured in the video or the alleged activities. The statement stressed that LogunOfe neither speaks for, represents nor works for the PDP governorship candidate or his campaign team in any capacity. It also maintained that Kawu had never authorised anyone to make such statements or engage in activities of that nature on his behalf.

Reaffirming his religious convictions, the media office described Kawu as a devoted Muslim who places his trust solely in Almighty Allah and does not subscribe to ritual, fetish or diabolical practices. It added that his governorship ambition is driven by a genuine desire to serve the people of Kwara State through responsible leadership, rather than by desperation for political office.

The statement further urged members of the public to disregard attempts to link the PDP candidate to the viral video, insisting that those behind the allegations were pursuing their own agenda. It added that Kawu remains committed to conducting a peaceful, issue-based campaign founded on integrity, respect for the rule of law, faith in God and the democratic will of the people.
