Isaac Fayose Hails Obi as ‘Incoming President’ Days After Criticising Him

Isaac Fayose has described Peter Obi as Nigeria’s “incoming president” after hosting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) 2027 presidential candidate at his residence on Saturday, just days after publicly criticising him and threatening to withdraw his support.

Fayose shared a video of the visit on his Instagram page shortly after the meeting.

Welcoming Obi, Fayose declared that the former Anambra State governor remained his preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

“It’s not every day the President comes to your house. Our incoming president. So shall it be, in Jesus’ name,” Fayose said in the video.

He also used the occasion to respond to critics who had questioned his loyalty to Obi following his earlier remarks.

“For you others abusing me, you can see now, I am 100 per cent Obidient. So you better be Obidient. We are together, and we are winning,” he added.

Obi, while responding during the visit, dismissed many of the online attacks directed at Fayose, suggesting that a significant number of those criticising him were not genuine supporters of the Obidient Movement.

According to Obi, some individuals were deliberately recruited to create division and spread hostile messages on social media.

“Half of the people that abuse you, they don’t follow us. What they do, when they hire people, they carry them, call them all sorts of names,” Obi said.

The former Labour Party presidential candidate also said he had never been troubled by criticism, describing it as part of public life and something every leader should expect.

The visit comes only days after Fayose expressed disappointment with Obi, accusing him of failing to appreciate the support he had received from some of his loyalists.

His comments had sparked debate among supporters of the Obidient Movement, with some questioning whether he remained committed to Obi’s political ambition.

Saturday’s meeting, however, appeared to put an end to the disagreement, with both men presenting a united front and reaffirming their relationship.

The development is expected to strengthen speculation about Obi’s political consultations and alliance-building efforts ahead of the 2027 general election.
