Imole Campaign Council Dismisses Yilwatda's Confidence Over Osun Poll

The Imole Campaign Council has dismissed the confidence expressed by All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, over the 2026 Osun State governorship election, insisting that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains firmly in control of the state. The council described the APC's optimism as political rhetoric that does not reflect the realities on the ground.

In a statement, the council said Governor Ademola Adeleke's administration has earned the trust of Osun residents through its performance in infrastructure, education, healthcare and workers' welfare. It argued that the achievements of the current government have strengthened public support and positioned the PDP favourably ahead of the election.

The campaign organisation also accused the APC of ignoring the reasons behind its defeat in the 2022 governorship election, maintaining that the opposition should focus on rebuilding its relationship with voters rather than making what it described as unrealistic electoral predictions. It expressed confidence that the electorate would once again endorse the PDP based on its record in office.

The council further urged APC leaders to conduct their campaigns peacefully and avoid statements capable of creating unnecessary political tension. It stressed that the forthcoming election should be decided by the people through a transparent and credible democratic process.

The exchange highlights the growing political contest ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election, with both the APC and PDP stepping up campaigns and public engagements as preparations for the polls gather momentum.
