IG Disu Visits Ministry Of Works, Pledges Police Protection For Major Projects
IGP Olatunji Disu met with Works Ministry officials in Abuja, pledging police protection for major infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, amid growing concerns over vandalism and security threats.
Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu on Tuesday visited the Federal Ministry of Works in Abuja to strengthen collaboration on the protection of critical infrastructure projects across Nigeria.
The meeting involved Minister of Works David Umahi, Minister of State for Works Bello Goronyo, and ministry directors.
Discussions focused on major ongoing projects, especially the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and other strategic road construction initiatives aimed at boosting connectivity and national development.
The Nigeria Police Force said it would provide adequate security and operational support to ensure the smooth execution and protection of critical infrastructure nationwide.
The meeting also stressed stronger inter-agency cooperation to prevent vandalism and security threats capable of disrupting construction activities.
The Federal Government had earlier raised concerns over vandalism along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway corridor, with Umahi warning that the destruction of drainage systems and road infrastructure could affect the durability of the project.
