Governor Bala Mohammed Mourns Transition of Former Bauchi Deputy Governor Audu Sule Katagum
Former Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Arc. Audu Sule Katagum, has passed away in Abuja following a brief illness.
Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has expressed profound grief following the passing of the former Deputy Governor of the state, Architect Audu Sule Katagum. The prominent statesman and traditional leader, who held the highly revered title of Wazirin Katagum, passed away in the early hours of Monday, June 22, 2026, at Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja after a brief illness.
Governor Mohammed lamented that the passing of the elder statesman has created a massive, irreplaceable vacuum across both the political structures and traditional institutions of Bauchi State.
The governor recalled with high admiration the administrative loyalty and decorum displayed by Katagum during his tenure as deputy governor under the previous administration of Governor Mohammed Abubakar. He noted that the deceased always put the stability and unity of the state above partisan considerations.
Even under the current dispensation, Katagum continued to offer his wealth of experience to the state, serving diligently as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Adamu Tafawa Balewa (ATB) College of Education, Kangere. The state executive credited him with executing sweeping infrastructure adjustments within the institution.
Beyond his political portfolio, Katagum was an accomplished architectural engineer. Governor Mohammed emphasized that his professional technical designs and spatial engineering blueprints significantly shaped the physical growth, modernization, and sustainable environmental architecture observed across urban centers in Bauchi State today.
The government extended its deepest sympathies to the immediate family of the deceased, the Katagum Emirate Council, and the entire populace of Bauchi State, praying that Almighty Allah forgives his structural shortcomings and grants him Aljannatul Firdaus.
