First Lady Donates ₦100m Empowerment Grants to 2,000 Ekiti Women
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has announced a ₦100m empowerment scheme in Ekiti State, giving ₦50,000 each to 2,000 women to support small businesses and boost household incomes.
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced a ₦100 million empowerment package for women in Ekiti State, targeting 2,000 beneficiaries as part of efforts to support small businesses and household income generation.
The announcement was made during a women-focused engagement in Ado-Ekiti, where she met with groups of women and community stakeholders as part of her official visit to the state.
According to the initiative, each of the 2,000 selected women will receive ₦50,000 to support or expand their existing small-scale businesses. The intervention is designed as a direct financial support scheme rather than a loan.
The First Lady explained that the programme is aimed at strengthening women’s economic participation, particularly those engaged in petty trading, crafts, and other informal sector activities that sustain many households across the state.
She also used the occasion to commend residents for their support of ongoing development efforts in the state, while urging continued cooperation with government programmes focused on social and economic development.
State officials and partners at the event described the intervention as part of wider empowerment initiatives targeting women and vulnerable groups, noting that such support can help improve household stability and local economic activity.
The programme is expected to be implemented through coordinated distribution channels, with beneficiaries selected across communities in Ekiti State.
