FIFA Highlights 20 Youngest Players to Win the World Cup
FIFA has unveiled its list of the 20 youngest players to win the FIFA World Cup, with Pelé remaining the youngest champion ever and Spain's Lamine Yamal becoming one of the latest teenage stars to join the prestigious list after the 2026 World Cup.
FIFA has released a list of the 20 youngest players in history to win the FIFA World Cup, celebrating the teenage stars and young talents who lifted football's biggest prize early in their careers. The list spans several generations, from Pelé's historic triumph with Brazil in 1958 to Lamine Yamal's title-winning campaign with Spain at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to FIFA, Pelé remains the youngest-ever World Cup winner, having lifted the trophy with Brazil at just 17 years and 249 days during the 1958 tournament in Sweden. He is followed by Ronaldo Nazário, who was 17 years and 298 days when Brazil won the 1994 World Cup, and Giuseppe Bergomi, who helped Italy claim the 1982 title at 18 years and 174 days.
The latest addition to the elite list is Lamine Yamal, who became one of the youngest World Cup champions after helping Spain defeat Argentina in the 2026 final. At 19 years and six days, Yamal added a World Cup winners' medal to the UEFA European Championship title he won in 2024, further cementing his reputation as one of football's brightest young stars.
FIFA's ranking highlights how exceptional young players have shaped World Cup history, with several going on to become legends of the game. The list also includes notable names such as Kylian Mbappé, Julian Draxler, Cafu, Andrés Iniesta, and Iker Casillas, all of whom won the tournament before turning 25.
