FCT: Only Wike’s Enemies Won’t See His Works — Akpabio
Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, saying only his enemies would ignore his achievements, while commending his transformation of Abuja and administrative reforms under Tinubu’s government.
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing him as a transformative leader whose achievements in Abuja are evident for all to see except his critics.
Akpabio made the remarks on Thursday during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N16–Ring Road III Interchange linking Jahi District to Gwarimpa District in the Federal Capital Territory. The project is one of several infrastructure developments earmarked to mark President Bola Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.
Representing President Tinubu at the event, the Senate President commended Wike’s performance as FCT Minister, saying his impact on the nation’s capital has been remarkable.
“The Honourable Minister of the FCT, the performing Minister, the game changer, Mr Deliver, we are very proud of you. The country is proud of you,” Akpabio said.
He added that only Wike’s enemies would refuse to acknowledge the ongoing transformation of the Federal Capital Territory.
“Only your enemies will not see what you are doing. No matter how hard you work, they will not see,” he stated.
Akpabio also reflected on Wike’s tenure as Governor of Rivers State, saying the minister had delivered outstanding projects in the state before bringing the same commitment to Abuja.
“Nyesom Wike, as Governor of Rivers State, you performed many miracles. Now, as Minister of the FCT, I honestly do not know whether to say you are better as governor or as minister because your performance has been exceptional,” he said.
The Senate President noted that beyond infrastructure, Wike had introduced significant administrative reforms in the FCT.
According to him, the establishment of permanent secretaries, a Head of Service, and improved career progression for civil servants have strengthened governance in the territory.
“Today, the FCT has permanent secretaries and a Head of Service, unlike in previous administrations. Staff members now have better opportunities for career advancement because of your cooperation with President Tinubu,” Akpabio said.
He prayed for God’s continued guidance for the minister and expressed confidence that the ongoing development projects would further improve the lives of residents and enhance the nation’s capital.
