England’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been disrupted after equipment belonging to the national team was reportedly stolen while being transported to their training base in the United States.

The incident occurred before the arrival of Thomas Tuchel and his squad at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, where England are set to train ahead of their opening World Cup fixture.

According to reports, several items, including football boots and training balls, were taken after vehicles transporting the team’s equipment from Florida to Kansas City were broken into during transit.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas confirmed the development in a statement posted on X, revealing that authorities had launched an extensive investigation into the theft.

In a statement titled “Statement on Heist in Transit of English National Team Equipment,” Lucas said officials became aware of the incident after the team’s shipment arrived in Kansas City.

“Yesterday, officials in Kansas City learned that at some point between their over-the-road transport from Florida to their arrival at the training facility in Kansas City, goods belonging to the English national team were stolen from the team’s transport vehicle,” he said.

The mayor disclosed that law enforcement agencies at multiple levels had been mobilised to identify those responsible and recover the missing items.

“Public safety officials at the local, state and federal levels are working to trace where in the United States the items were seized and all individuals who may have been involved,” Lucas added.

Authorities have yet to disclose the full value of the stolen equipment or provide details on possible suspects.

England are expected to hold their first training session at Swope Soccer Village on Saturday evening as preparations intensify for the start of their World Cup campaign.

The Three Lions will begin their Group L campaign against Croatia on Wednesday before facing Ghana and Panama in their remaining group-stage matches.

Despite the setback, England officials are expected to continue preparations while authorities work to recover the missing equipment and determine where the theft occurred during the cross-country journey.
