Edo to Boost Job Creation, Hospitality Industry Through Tourism Development
The Edo State Government says it plans to create jobs and strengthen the hospitality industry through tourism development, with a focus on attracting visitors, supporting local businesses, and boosting economic growth.
The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to using tourism as a catalyst for economic growth, job creation, and the expansion of the state's hospitality sector.
Officials said the administration is pursuing policies and investments aimed at unlocking Edo’s tourism potential by promoting its cultural heritage, historical sites, festivals, and other attractions. The initiative is expected to attract more visitors, stimulate local businesses, and create employment opportunities for residents.
According to the government, strengthening the tourism industry will have a positive impact on related sectors, including hospitality, transportation, entertainment, and small-scale enterprises. Authorities noted that increased tourist activity could generate additional revenue while contributing to broader economic development.
The state also emphasised the importance of public-private partnerships in achieving its tourism objectives, encouraging investors to take advantage of opportunities within the sector. Officials expressed confidence that ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and promote tourist destinations would enhance Edo’s appeal as a travel destination.
The government maintained that tourism remains a viable avenue for diversifying the state’s economy and reducing dependence on traditional sources of revenue. It added that programmes are being developed to ensure local communities benefit from the expected growth in visitor numbers.
Stakeholders in the hospitality industry have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a step towards expanding business opportunities and strengthening economic activities across the state.
