Dangote, Canada’s Prime Minister Discuss Investment Partnerships
Aliko Dangote and Canada’s Prime Minister discussed investment opportunities, trade expansion and stronger economic cooperation between Africa and Canada.
President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, has held high-level discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney aimed at strengthening investment partnerships and expanding economic cooperation between Canada and Africa.
The meeting centred on identifying new opportunities for collaboration that would encourage greater investment in Canada while also promoting stronger commercial ties with African economies.
During the discussions, both leaders examined ways the Dangote Group and other African investors could contribute to Canada’s economic development through increased private-sector participation and strategic investments.
They also exchanged views on Canada’s Africa Strategy, highlighting the importance of creating a framework that encourages two-way trade, investment and long-term economic cooperation between Canada and countries across the African continent.
Dangote emphasised the growing opportunities for partnerships between businesses in Africa and Canada, describing the relationship as one capable of delivering significant economic benefits to both regions.
According to him, stronger commercial cooperation would create jobs, stimulate innovation, accelerate industrial development and promote sustainable economic growth.
“Strategic partnerships between Africa and Canada have immense potential to drive sustainable growth and create value for both regions,” Dangote said.
He added that increasing investments, encouraging innovation and building mutually beneficial business relationships would strengthen economic resilience and unlock new opportunities for businesses on both sides.
As part of his engagements in Canada, Dangote also met with Ahmed Hussen, Member of Parliament and Chairman of Canada’s Foreign Affairs Committee.
The meeting focused on advancing Canada-Africa economic relations through deeper trade partnerships, increased investment flows and broader strategic cooperation between the public and private sectors.
Both sides stressed the importance of developing long-term initiatives capable of supporting inclusive economic growth while expanding commercial opportunities for businesses operating in Canada and Africa.
According to a statement issued by Dangote Industries Limited, the series of meetings reflects a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral economic relations and fostering partnerships that promote sustainable development.
The company noted that closer collaboration between African investors and Canadian institutions could open new opportunities across several sectors, including manufacturing, infrastructure, agriculture, energy and technology.
The engagements are expected to further encourage private-sector participation in cross-border investments while reinforcing efforts to build stronger economic links between Canada and African economies.
