Court Grants Miyetti Allah President N2bn Bail in Money Laundering Trial

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail in the sum of N2 billion to Bello Abdullahi Bodejo, the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, in his ongoing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged money laundering involving more than $2.3 million.

Presiding Judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, ruled on the bail application filed by defense counsel Ahmed Raji, holding that the financial offences leveled against Bodejo were constitutionally bailable. Despite opposition from prosecution counsel Wahab Shittu, who argued that the defendant posed a potential flight risk, the court ruled that stringent bail conditions would ensure his attendance throughout the trial.

As part of the bail requirements, Bodejo must produce one reliable surety who owns landed property valued at N2 billion within the Abuja Municipal Area Council, backed by three years of verified tax clearance certificates. Furthermore, Bodejo was ordered to surrender his international passport to the court registry and is subject to a strict travel ban pending the commencement of full trial proceedings, which the court adjourned to October 2026.
