Badejo-Okusanya's NBA Victory Inspires Women, Says Natasha

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, has congratulated Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya (SAN) on her historic election as President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), describing the achievement as a defining moment for the legal profession and women in leadership. She said the victory demonstrates that competence, excellence, resilience and integrity will always prevail.

In a goodwill message, Akpoti-Uduaghan noted that Badejo-Okusanya's emergence as the first woman elected to lead the NBA since its establishment in 1960 sends a powerful message to women and girls across Nigeria that leadership is not determined by gender. She said the milestone would inspire more women to aspire to leadership positions and break long-standing barriers.

The senator also expressed confidence in the new NBA president's ability to provide visionary leadership for the legal profession while strengthening the rule of law and advancing justice in Nigeria. As a fellow woman in public service, she wished Badejo-Okusanya a successful tenure and encouraged her to continue inspiring the next generation of female leaders.

Badejo-Okusanya emerged the 33rd President of the NBA after polling 12,317 votes to defeat Lateef Akangbe (SAN) and Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro (SAN) in the association's 2026 election. She will serve a two-year term from 2026 to 2028, becoming the second woman to head the NBA after Priscilla Kuye, and the first to attain the office through a direct election.
