Femi Azeez has described his Super Eagles debut as a dream moment after scoring a historic brace in Nigeria’s 2–0 win over Zimbabwe in the Unity Cup.
The winger, who marked his first appearance for the national team with two goals, said he was initially unaware of the historical significance of his achievement but was delighted to contribute to the team’s victory.
Azeez admitted that he enjoyed playing in a slightly unfamiliar attacking role, explaining that the coaching staff encouraged him to express himself freely in the final third during the match.
He credited the technical team for helping him adapt quickly, noting that tactical guidance in training made it easier to settle into the system once the game began.
The forward also revealed his excitement after opening the scoring early in the match, adding that confidence and freedom from the manager helped him deliver his performance.
His brace has placed him firmly in the spotlight as one of the standout performers in the squad, strengthening his case for future Super Eagles selections as competition for attacking places intensifies.
