Army Foils Terrorist Attack, Rescues 48 Kidnap Victims in Zamfara

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 48 kidnapped victims after repelling a terrorist attack on Magami village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The military said the operation was launched in the early hours of Saturday following a distress call reporting that dozens of heavily armed terrorists had invaded the community.

According to the military, about 40 terrorists riding motorcycles stormed the village, rounded up several residents and attempted to take them into the bush while another group remained outside with the motorcycles. Troops responded swiftly, engaging the attackers in a fierce gun battle that forced them to flee and abandon all 48 captives, who were rescued unharmed.

The military, however, disclosed that one civilian was killed during the attack, while two others sustained gunshot injuries and were evacuated to the General Hospital, Kaura Namoda, for treatment. Following the rescue, troops conducted aggressive patrols across the area to prevent the terrorists from regrouping or launching fresh attacks.

Commending the troops for their bravery and professionalism, the Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across the North-West. It also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies to sustain ongoing efforts against terrorism and banditry in the region.
