Army Calls for Stronger Inter-Agency Collaboration to Tackle Insecurity

The Nigerian Army has called for enhanced collaboration among security agencies to effectively address the country’s evolving security challenges, including insurgency, terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and militancy.

The Commander of the 4 Special Forces Command, Doma, Nasarawa State, Major General Olurotimi Awolo, made the call on Monday while declaring open the Command Operations Planning Cadre 2026.

Awolo said the nature of security threats confronting Nigeria differs across regions and requires specialised responses, continuous training and effective coordination among personnel deployed to various operational theatres.

According to him, the week-long training programme was organised to strengthen the operational planning capabilities of personnel within the command’s area of responsibility and prepare them for emerging security challenges.

The training, themed “Tactical Leadership Capacity Building and Multi-Agency Approach to Asymmetric Operations in Joint Operations Area,” attracted participants from formations and units of the Armed Forces as well as personnel from other security agencies.

Awolo explained that the participation of multiple security organisations was intended to promote integrated efforts and improve cooperation among agencies involved in maintaining national security.

“The essence of including other security agencies in this training programme was necessitated by the notion that confronting the numerous security challenges across the nation requires integrated collaboration among all relevant stakeholders in the security domain,” he said.

He noted that the initiative aligns with the operational philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, which focuses on transforming the Nigerian Army into a professional, adaptable and combat-ready force capable of operating effectively in a joint and multi-agency environment.

The commander emphasised that modern security threats require coordinated responses and the sharing of expertise among security institutions.

He urged participants to pay close attention to presentations on inter-agency cooperation, logistics planning and tactical leadership, stressing that the knowledge gained would improve operational effectiveness during future deployments.

Awolo also expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for approving and funding the programme, describing the training as a critical investment in strengthening national security operations.

He further commended the resource persons, instructors and senior military officers contributing to the programme for sharing their experiences and expertise.

The commander charged participants to apply lessons learned from the training in addressing operational challenges and enhancing security operations across the country.

He expressed confidence that stronger cooperation among security agencies would contribute significantly to efforts aimed at restoring peace, stability and safety in affected communities nationwide.
