APC Tells Obi Nigeria Needs Continuity, Not Economic Reset

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi over his recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu's economic reforms, insisting that the country needs policy continuity rather than a complete reset of its economic direction.

The ruling party was reacting to Obi's interview on Channels Television, where the former Anambra State governor argued that Nigeria was heading in the wrong direction under the current administration. Obi described the government's agenda as one of "failure and renewed hopelessness" and maintained that the country required a different leadership approach to address its economic and governance challenges.

Responding to the remarks, APC National Vice Chairman (South-East), Dr Ijeomah Arodiogbu, said the Tinubu administration had already laid the groundwork for long-term economic recovery. He argued that abandoning the ongoing reforms would undermine the progress already made and urged Nigerians to support efforts aimed at consolidating the policies rather than replacing them with what he described as another political experiment.

Arodiogbu further maintained that while economic reforms may be difficult in the short term, they are necessary to achieve lasting stability and growth. He said the administration's policies were designed to address structural challenges in the economy and should be given sufficient time to produce the desired results.

The exchange reflects the growing political debate ahead of the 2027 general election, with the ruling party defending its economic agenda while opposition figures continue to call for a new approach to governance and national development.
