APC Raises Alarm Over N130bn Airport Project in Adeleke’s Hometown
The Osun APC has questioned the reported increase of the Ede airport project from N99.5 billion to about N130 billion and demanded full disclosure of payments and execution details.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has raised concerns over the reported N130 billion airport project in Ede, the hometown of Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing the alleged increase in the contract sum as questionable.
In a statement issued by the APC Governorship Campaign Council, the opposition party alleged that the project cost had risen from an initial N99.5 billion to about N130 billion.
The council described the reported upward review as criminal and demanded that the Adeleke administration provide a detailed explanation for the increase.
According to the APC, the state government should disclose the basis for the variation in contract cost, the amount already paid to contractors and the current stage of execution of the project.
The party also expressed concern over reports that a substantial portion of the revised contract sum had already been disbursed.
It argued that the reported cost of the airport project exceeded the combined 2025 budgetary allocations to several key sectors of the state economy.
The APC further stated that the continued non-publication of relevant financial documents had heightened public suspicion regarding the management of state resources.
The statement also referenced allegations linking the contractor, Sowie Tee, to a close associate of Dr. Deji Adeleke, the governor’s elder brother.
“The recent allegations concerning the Ede Airport project, that Sowie Tee is owned by a close associate of Dr Deji Adeleke, governor’s elder brother, and that the project is a conduit pipe to steal Osun money, further underscore why the state government should immediately make these financial records available for public examination,” the statement read.
The APC said that if the administration had nothing to hide, it should publish all relevant financial documents and provide a comprehensive breakdown of payments made on the airport project.
The party also called for disclosure of the project’s execution status and the justification for the reported increase in cost.
In addition, the APC alleged that the airport project was being pursued for political reasons ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The party claimed that intelligence available to it suggested the project fund could be used for vote buying, although it did not provide evidence to support the allegation.
The Osun State Government had not issued an official response to the APC’s claims as of the time of filing this report.
