Abuja Airport CCTV: You Can’t Lie Your Way to the Presidency, APC Chieftain Tells Obi

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress has criticised the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, over his comments on the alleged existence of CCTV footage at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The APC stalwart accused Obi of making misleading claims and insisted that no politician could attain the presidency through falsehood.

The reaction followed the ongoing controversy surrounding Obi’s allegation that he was subjected to harassment at the Abuja airport and his subsequent claims about the availability of CCTV footage that could clarify the incident.

According to the APC chieftain, Nigerians deserve truthful and responsible leadership, adding that public figures must ensure their statements are backed by verifiable facts.

“You cannot lie your way to the Presidency,” he said, maintaining that credibility and integrity remain essential qualities for anyone seeking the country’s highest office.

The party leader argued that attempts to politicise issues surrounding airport operations would not distract Nigerians from assessing the credibility of political actors ahead of future elections.

The comments come amid a war of words between members of the ruling party and the opposition over Obi’s recent allegations, with several APC figures calling on him to substantiate his claims.

The controversy has also generated reactions from political supporters and civil society groups, with some demanding the release of any available CCTV footage to establish the facts surrounding the incident.

As of the time of filing this report, Peter Obi had not publicly responded to the latest remarks by the APC chieftain.
