400-Level Student Arrested at Kogi State University Over Attempted Forced Cult Initiation
A final-year (400-level) student has been taken into custody by campus security at Kogi State University for trying to force another undergraduate into a cult group.
The security department of Kogi State University (KSU), Anyigba, has apprehended a 400-level student for allegedly attempting to initiate an undergraduate into an illegal campus cult fraternity through intimidation and physical coercion. The arrest marks a continuation of the institution’s strict zero-tolerance policy regarding cultism and campus gang violence.
The suspect was caught following a distress signal raised by the victim, who resisted the forced abduction and alerted the university's internal security patrol team.
University authorities have reiterated that campus regulations provide no leniency for individuals found engaging in clandestine societies:
- Swift Intervention: The university's security division intercepted the suspect during an illicit gathering inside a secluded section off the main campus. The prompt response prevented what would have been a violent, non-consensual initiation ritual.
- Administrative and Legal Action: In line with statutory guidelines, the university management has placed the final-year student on indefinite suspension pending a formal disciplinary senate hearing. Concurrently, the suspect has been handed over to the Kogi State Police Command for full criminal investigation and subsequent prosecution under anti-cultism laws.
- Protecting Student Welfare: The Vice-Chancellor urged the student body to remain highly vigilant and utilize the school’s anonymous whistleblowing channels to report suspicious nocturnal gatherings or threat messages from any campus group.
The institution has reinforced its perimeter security and intensified nighttime foot patrols across both residential halls and surrounding off-campus student communities to deter similar criminal networks from operating.
