2027: I'm supporting Wike-led Rainbow Coalition — Fubara
I'm supporting Wike-led Rainbow Coalition
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared his support for the Nyesom Wike-led Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the alliance as a platform for unity and political stability in the state. He made the remark during a stakeholders' meeting in Port Harcourt.
Fubara said his decision was driven by the need to put the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State behind him and focus on governance. He urged his supporters to embrace reconciliation and work with all political actors committed to the state's development, regardless of previous differences.
The governor acknowledged the role played by President Bola Tinubu in resolving the political impasse between his administration and Wike, stating that the reconciliation process had paved the way for renewed cooperation. He added that the Rainbow Coalition would work towards ensuring political stability and electoral success in 2027.
Fubara's endorsement marks a significant shift in Rivers politics following months of tension between him and his predecessor, Wike. The renewed alliance is expected to reshape political alignments in the state as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
