Umeh, Nwoye, Onunkwo Win NDC Senatorial Tickets
Victor Umeh, Tony Nwoye and Ebuka Onunkwo won NDC senatorial tickets in Anambra primaries, as party leaders praised the peaceful, transparent process ahead of the 2027 elections.
Three prominent politicians, Victor Umeh, Tony Nwoye and Ebuka Onunkwo, have emerged as senatorial candidates of the Nigeria Democratic Congress for the 2027 general elections in Anambra State.
Umeh secured the ticket for Anambra Central Senatorial District, while Nwoye and Onunkwo emerged victorious in Anambra North and Anambra South respectively.
The candidates emerged during the party’s primary elections for National and State Assembly positions held across the state on Friday.
The exercise was conducted using the Option A4 voting system and reportedly witnessed a large turnout of registered party members after accreditation.
The primaries also produced 11 candidates for the House of Representatives and 30 candidates for the Anambra State House of Assembly.
Speaking after the exercise, Anambra State NDC Chairman, Ikem Uzoezie, praised the conduct of party members and described the process as peaceful, transparent and credible.
“We congratulate all aspirants that emerged as candidates and those that could not make it. This was a great show of sportsmanship among the aspirants,” Uzoezie said.
Speaking on behalf of the winners, Onunkwo expressed satisfaction with the process and said the party’s candidates were committed to providing effective representation and advancing development in Anambra State.
“We are happy with the peaceful process, and we salute our party members for conducting themselves peacefully,” he said.
