Tinubu Doesn’t Trust Me As Igbo Man — Cubana Chief Priest
Popular Nigerian entrepreneur and socialite, Cubana Chief Priest, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu does not fully trust him because of his Igbo background and his previous support for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election.
Cubana Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, made the remarks during a conversation with content creator Peller on Tuesday evening while reacting to his recent political setback in Imo State.
The nightlife promoter had earlier purchased the All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Representatives nomination form to contest for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State. However, he failed to secure the party’s ticket during the APC primary election.
Following the outcome, the businessman later told supporters that he was never truly in the race, despite previously showing strong political interest and publicly aligning himself with the APC.
Speaking during the interview, Cubana Chief Priest suggested that his past political affiliation may still be affecting how he is perceived within the ruling party.
“Let me tell you, as I am now, Tinubu doesn’t really trust me as an Igbo man. He looks at me with one eye. He is still like, ‘this one that worked for Peter Obi before,’” he said.
He admitted that he actively supported Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election but later shifted allegiance after concluding that Obi could not defeat Tinubu politically.
The socialite, who currently serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, has in recent months openly campaigned for President Tinubu and the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
Reacting to his primary election defeat, many social media users mocked the businessman, arguing that he underestimated the realities of Nigerian politics.
Meanwhile, Seyi Tinubu had earlier encouraged him after the loss, urging him not to be discouraged and assuring him that political setbacks could eventually lead to greater opportunities.
