Super Eagles defender Chibuike Nwaiwu has welcomed the birth of his daughter, Jacinta, just as Nigeria prepare for their Unity Cup final against Jamaica in London.
Super Eagles centre-back Chibuike Nwaiwu has welcomed the birth of his baby girl, adding a joyful personal milestone ahead of Nigeria’s Unity Cup final against Jamaica in London.
The development was confirmed by his Turkish club, Trabzonspor, which congratulated the defender and his partner, Melissa, while also revealing that the newborn has been named Jacinta.
The 22-year-old defender is currently with the national team camp as Nigeria prepare for the final, having featured throughout the tournament, including a full 90-minute appearance in the 2–0 semi-final win over Zimbabwe.
Despite the major life event coming just days before a crucial match, Nwaiwu is expected to remain available for selection as head coach Eric Chelle continues preparations for the showdown against the Reggae Boyz.
The former Enyimba defender has enjoyed a steady rise in European football since moving abroad, establishing himself at club level and gradually earning more responsibility within the Super Eagles setup.
Nigeria will be aiming to defend their Unity Cup title, with squad morale boosted by strong performances on the pitch and positive news off it as they head into the final.
