A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Senator Ayo Arise, has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his victory in the June 20, 2026 governorship election.

Arise, in a statement made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, described Oyebanji’s re-election as a reflection of the governor’s commitment to the development and progress of the state.

He commended Ekiti voters for their turnout and support for Oyebanji and his deputy, Mrs Monisola Afuye, which secured them a second term in office.

According to the former lawmaker, the renewed mandate would pave the way for further infrastructural development and improvement in key sectors of the state’s economy.

Arise said Oyebanji’s continuity in office would enable the administration to consolidate on its achievements and deliver more impactful projects for residents.

He listed roads, education, healthcare, agriculture and civil service reforms among the areas expected to witness further transformation during the governor’s second term.

“The victory is a testament to the confidence the people of Ekiti have in the leadership of Governor Oyebanji and his administration’s development agenda,” he said.

The APC chieftain also urged the governor to remain committed to inclusive governance and continue working for the benefit of all residents, irrespective of political differences.

He noted that the election outcome had shown the importance of effective leadership, accountability and policies that directly impact the lives of citizens.

Arise, who is aspiring to represent Ekiti North Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, however, called for unity, justice and fairness within the APC in the state.

He stressed that maintaining harmony among party members and stakeholders would be critical as the party prepares for future elections.

The senator said a united party structure would strengthen the APC’s chances of achieving more electoral successes and sustaining good governance in Ekiti.

Governor Oyebanji was declared winner of the Ekiti governorship election after polling 319,224 votes, defeating his closest challengers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC).
