Police Officer, Two Others Killed as Bandits Raid Sokoto Village

A police officer and two other residents have been killed after suspected bandits attacked Kalanjeni village in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The assailants reportedly stormed the community in the early hours of Sunday, opening fire on residents and triggering panic as many fled for safety.

Residents said the attackers operated for several hours, killing three people, including a police officer attached to the area, before escaping into nearby forests. The raid also left several houses deserted as frightened villagers fled the community to avoid further attacks.

Community members expressed concern over the recurring attacks in parts of Sokoto State, calling on security agencies to strengthen their presence and prevent further assaults. They said the latest incident has heightened fears among residents, many of whom have continued to live under the threat of bandit attacks.

Security operatives have reportedly intensified efforts to track down the attackers, while authorities urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible intelligence to support ongoing operations against criminal groups in the area.

The latest attack adds to a series of violent incidents recorded across parts of north-west Nigeria, where security forces have sustained operations against armed bandits responsible for killings, kidnappings and other criminal activities.
