The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate allegedly involved in the abduction of Abubakar Abdullahim at Molege, Owo, earlier this month. The suspects were arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State, and Ipele in Ondo State.
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate allegedly involved in the abduction of one Abubakar Abdullahim at Molege, via Owo, in the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
Jimoh said the suspects, identified as Adamu Rabiu and Haruna Likita, were arrested following sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated operations by operatives of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Akure.
According to him, Rabiu was arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State, after Ondo police operatives worked with their counterparts in the state.
Likita was subsequently arrested around Ipele, via Owo, in connection with the same kidnapping incident.
The PPRO said preliminary investigations had established links between the two suspects and the abduction of Abdullahim.
He added that both suspects made statements during interrogation admitting their alleged involvement, while further investigations were ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the incident and identify other members of the syndicate.
Jimoh said the command was intensifying efforts to uncover the wider network and operational structure of the group, with a view to arresting all those involved.
He added that the suspects would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Mr Felix Ohagwu, urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information to the police and other security agencies.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to using intelligence-led strategies to dismantle kidnapping networks and prevent criminals from operating in the state.
