Osun Poll: Endorsing Tinubu Won’t Stop Adeleke From Losing — Oyetola

Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has said Governor Ademola Adeleke’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu will not prevent the All Progressives Congress (APC) from reclaiming the Osun State governorship seat.

Oyetola made the statement while reacting to Adeleke’s recent political support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The minister said the endorsement was an indication that the governor and his supporters were aware of the APC’s growing strength ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

“They realised that they are already losing out. Then they claimed to have endorsed us. He almost cried. Endorsement cannot retain this seat for you. We are taking it over,” Oyetola said.

He added that even multiple endorsements would not stop the APC from seeking to take control of the state.

“If you like, make 10 endorsements, we will collect this one from you,” he said.

Oyetola also dismissed Adeleke’s repeated references to him during the campaign, saying he had deliberately avoided engaging the governor in public exchanges.

He said Adeleke appeared to blame him for unrelated issues, suggesting that the governor had become overly focused on his political activities.

“If he sleeps and has nightmares, he will say he saw me. If his wife gave him food late, he would say I’m responsible for that,” Oyetola said.

The comments come as political parties intensify their campaigns ahead of the August 15 Osun governorship election, with the APC seeking to reclaim the state from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
