Osun Poll: Adeleke’s Camp Replies Keyamo, Says No Political Deal With Tinubu

The Imole Campaign Council of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denied claims that the governor’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election was based on a political agreement.

The council said Adeleke’s support for Tinubu was motivated by the President’s performance and reforms, rather than any pre-arranged political pact between the two politicians.

The campaign council’s spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, made the clarification in a post on his X account on Sunday while reacting to a statement by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.

Keyamo had congratulated Adeleke on his re-election and praised him for publicly endorsing Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

“Thank you, Governor Ademola Adeleke, for the public and unequivocal endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 Presidential Election. You are a man of integrity and honour. ‘Agreement is agreement,’” Keyamo wrote.

The comment sparked reactions online, with some users interpreting it as an indication that Adeleke’s endorsement was linked to a private political arrangement.

However, Olajengbesi rejected the interpretation, insisting that there was no agreement between Adeleke and Tinubu.

“Do not undermine the resilience of Osun people. There is no agreement,” he said.

He explained that Adeleke’s support for the President was based on what he described as Tinubu’s performance and reforms, particularly policies that had strengthened the economic position of states.

“Our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is based on his performance and reforms that have strengthened states economically,” Olajengbesi said.

The campaign spokesperson also stressed that Adeleke’s victory in the August 15 governorship election was achieved through the votes of Osun residents.

“Osun people voted Adeleke. President Tinubu simply ensured democratic rules were respected,” he added.

The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke, who contested under the Accord Party, winner of the election after he polled 511,067 votes.

He defeated his closest challenger, All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.

Adeleke’s victory secured him a second term as governor of the state.

Following his re-election, Adeleke reaffirmed his endorsement of Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, describing the President as a son of Osun State.

The governor also thanked Tinubu for congratulating him after the election, while calling on his political opponents to accept the outcome and work with his administration for the development of Osun State.
