OsunDecides2026: PDP Congratulates Adeleke, Urges Focus on Peace, Development
The PDP has congratulated Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as Osun governor, urging him and other political actors to prioritise peace, development and the welfare of residents above partisan interests.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, urging him to use his second term to deepen peace, development and good governance in the state.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, on Sunday, the party described Adeleke’s victory as a reflection of the confidence placed in him by the people of Osun.
The PDP acknowledged that Adeleke contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, despite previously winning the governorship on the PDP platform in 2022. The party nevertheless said it remained proud of its contribution to Osun’s democratic development.
According to the final result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Adeleke polled 511,067 votes, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes. ADC candidate Najeem Salaam came third with 17,180 votes.
The PDP noted that Adeleke won 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.
The party urged Adeleke to make the welfare of Osun residents his priority and called on all political actors to accept the election outcome and work towards maintaining peace and stability.
The PDP also expressed hope that Adeleke’s second term would usher in greater progress, unity and prosperity for the people of Osun State.
