OsunDecides2026: ‘This Is Democracy,’ Oyebanji Hails Adeleke’s Re-election
Ekiti Governor Biodun Oyebanji has congratulated Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, describing the outcome as democracy in action and urging the governor to carry all Osun residents along.
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, describing the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election as a reflection of the wishes of the majority of Osun voters.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, on Sunday, Oyebanji said Adeleke’s victory demonstrated the democratic choice of the people.
“This is democracy, and the majority of Osun voters have expressed their preference for the re-election of Governor Adeleke,” Oyebanji said.
He urged Adeleke to be magnanimous in victory and extend his administration’s reach to supporters of other candidates as he begins another term.
Oyebanji also congratulated APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, describing him as a worthy challenger, and commended Osun APC members for putting up what he called a strong fight.
The Ekiti governor praised President Bola Tinubu for what he described as providing a level playing field for all candidates, saying this helped reduce tension and contributed to a fair contest. He also commended INEC and the security agencies for their roles in the election.
However, Oyebanji cautioned against interpreting Adeleke’s victory as a rejection of Tinubu, insisting that the election result should not be taken as a reflection of Osun voters’ position on the President ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He expressed confidence that Osun voters would support Tinubu in 2027.
