Osun: Nothing Will Happen If Tinubu Writes 2027 Election Result — Imran Wakili

Political commentator Imran Wakili has alleged that President Bola Tinubu has repeatedly taken actions without facing consequences, claiming the President could even determine the outcome of the 2027 presidential election without being challenged.

In a post shared on his X account on Thursday, Wakili argued that several recent developments demonstrated what he described as a growing disregard for constitutional provisions and the rule of law.

He cited the suspension of a sitting governor, the continued detention of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and the reported freezing of the Osun State Government’s accounts as examples of actions he believes have occurred without accountability.

According to Wakili, these incidents suggest that constitutional safeguards are no longer being effectively enforced.

Commenting on the suspension of the governor, he claimed the action violated constitutional provisions but was carried out without any significant consequences for the President.

He also referred to the detention of El-Rufai, alleging that the former governor had remained in custody for about 170 days over what he described as a bailable offence, adding that no satisfactory explanation had been offered to the public for part of the detention period.

Wakili further criticised the reported freezing of Osun State Government’s accounts, arguing that such actions were being taken without effective legal or political resistance.

The commentator extended his criticism to Nigeria’s political system, claiming the President could influence the outcome of the 2027 election without facing repercussions.

He also alleged that if Tinubu sought a constitutional amendment to secure a third presidential term, the National Assembly would approve it because many opposition lawmakers lacked the courage to resist such a proposal.

In his remarks, Wakili accused some legislators of prioritising personal interests over constitutional principles, describing them as unwilling to challenge actions they considered controversial.

His comments come amid ongoing political debates over governance, constitutional compliance and the role of democratic institutions in safeguarding accountability ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Neither the Presidency nor the National Assembly had responded to Wakili’s claims as of the time of filing this report.
