Osun 2026: APC May Attempt to Hijack Your Victory, Primate Ayodele Warns Adeleke
Primate Elijah Ayodele has warned Governor Ademola Adeleke to remain vigilant ahead of the Osun governorship election, alleging that opponents may attempt to undermine his expected victory.
The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has cautioned Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to remain vigilant ahead of the 2026 governorship election, warning that efforts may be made to overturn his expected victory.
In a statement issued on Sunday through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric claimed that Adeleke was positioned to secure a second term in office but alleged that political opponents were already strategising to challenge the outcome beyond the election day process.
According to Ayodele, the governor should not become complacent despite what he described as favourable prospects for re-election. He urged Adeleke to closely monitor developments before, during and after the poll.
The cleric alleged that members of the opposition All Progressives Congress were planning moves aimed at frustrating Adeleke’s victory if adequate precautions were not taken.
“In Osun election, God has already anointed Ademola Adeleke to secure a second term in office. He will win the election, but the APC are working towards the aftermath of the win. They will attempt to snatch victory from Adeleke if he isn’t careful enough,” he stated.
Ayodele further advised the governor to strengthen his political structures and ensure that loyal supporters remain active throughout the electoral process.
“The governor must follow them closely and ensure he has eyes on the ground because they have already concluded their plans to go beyond the election polls to get victory by all means. Adeleke must stay with his win till the very end,” he added.
The cleric also directed remarks at the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Joash Amupitan, urging him to maintain neutrality and ensure that the electoral process remains transparent and credible.
Ayodele warned against any attempt to compromise the election, insisting that electoral officials should conduct themselves in accordance with the law and democratic principles.
He stated that those entrusted with managing the election must avoid actions capable of undermining public confidence in the process.
The Osun governorship election is expected to attract significant political attention as major parties intensify preparations for the contest.
While political campaigns are yet to reach their peak, stakeholders have continued to call for a free, fair and peaceful election, urging electoral authorities, political parties and security agencies to uphold democratic standards throughout the process.
