'Only Job I Wanted' – Zidane Delighted to Take Charge of France

New France head coach Zinedine Zidane has described leading the national team as the only coaching job he truly wanted, saying it represents the fulfilment of a lifelong ambition. The former Real Madrid manager made the remarks after officially succeeding Didier Deschamps as head coach of Les Bleus.

Speaking at his unveiling, Zidane said coaching the French national team had always been his ultimate objective despite receiving offers from several top clubs and national sides in recent years. He expressed pride at being entrusted with the role and pledged to give everything to help France remain among the world's leading football nations.

The former France captain takes over from Deschamps, who spent more than a decade in charge and guided the team to the 2018 FIFA World Cup title, the 2022 World Cup final and the UEFA Nations League crown. Zidane praised his predecessor for laying a strong foundation and said he hopes to build on the team's recent successes.

Zidane begins his tenure with a talented squad featuring a blend of experienced stars and emerging players. He said his priority would be to maintain France's competitive edge while fostering unity and a winning mentality as preparations begin for upcoming international competitions.

His appointment has been widely welcomed by football fans and analysts, many of whom believe his outstanding achievements as both a player and manager make him well suited to lead France into its next chapter on the international stage.
